Female Mentorship Program

Program Overview

Cambridge Youth Soccer is an ardent supporter of the Ontario Soccer Long Term Player Development initiative and recognizes the importance of coach development as a key component. CYS is committed to creating a mentorship program that will respond to the needs and aspirations of the female soccer coach to develop their coaching knowledge/abilities.

The program is designed to create an environment where coaches feel comfortable asking questions, sharing experiences, and discussing challenges. The program will be delivered through a series of coaching workshops, consisting of classroom presentations, group activities, on-field sessions, and game analysis.

The program is open to all female coaches regardless of current coaching level or experience within CYS and CYS Affiliations.

Objective

To provide support for female coaches at all levels within the club and to help create more opportunities for coaches to further their coach education.

Goals

  1. To develop female soccer coaches, who in turn will act as educators and mentors to aspiring female players.
  2. To create a supportive, professional female coaching culture.
  3. To encourage promising female soccer coaches to reach their full coaching.

Outcomes

  1. Increase the number of female soccer coaches at CYS.
  2. Increase number of female soccer coaches at the competitive level.
  3. Increase number of female soccer coaches working in the CYS OPDL environment.
