2019 U14 OPDL Program Structure
Even though CYS have only reached the halfway mark of the 2018 OPDL season, preparations are well underway for the 2019 season
Below is a synopsis of the important dates and procedures for the 2019 season:
2019 Playing Offers:
All players registered to the Cambridge United OPDL program can officially sign player agreements for the 2019 season as of October 1, 2018. CYS Technical Director, Grassroots Club Head Coach and Team Head Coach will meet with parents during the month of September get a verbal indication of their preference to stay with the program prior to that date. However, nothing can be officially agreed to until October 1t.
Please note current Cambridge United OPDL players do not have to attend trials in order to be considered for the 2019 U14 OPDL team. However, CYS expects that a decision will be made by parents/players by October 15th, 2018.
Players that do not wish to return to the OPDL program for the 2019 season must receive permission from the Technical Director if they wish to be released from the program upon conclusion of the regular season (October 31st) so that they may seek to attend trials at another licence holder.
Trials for players that were not registered to an OPDL licence holder will take place during the last week of September. Three of these dates have already been scheduled. This is referred to as PHASE I. Players will be assessed by CYS Technical Staff. Successful players may be invited to attend U13 OPDL training sessions during the month of October, but these players will be ineligible to participate in any OPDL games during October 2018.
PHASE II takes place during the month of November. Players from the PHASE I trials may be invited back along with other players who were involved with other OPDL Licence Holders during the 2018 season. New players may be extended playing offers for 2019 and will then train during the month of November with the current group of 2005’s as the season winds down.
